Chapter 5
A Shadow Falls
Lumina Academy becomes the target of a brutal alien assault. Zylar's loyalty is tested as he must choose between his mission and protecting Elara, revealing his true identity.
The air at Lumina Academy, usually alive with the hum of latent magic and the murmur of eager students, crackled with an unnatural tension. It began subtly, a discordant note in the symphony of arcane energies. Lights flickered in the Great Hall, not with the gentle pulse of enchanted lamps, but with a violent, strobe-like intensity. Classrooms, moments before filled with the earnest explanations of professors, fell silent as complex enchantments sputtered and died. Zylar, his alien senses finely tuned, felt it first—a tremor in the very fabric of reality, a dissonance that spoke of something profoundly wrong.

He’d noticed her more and more lately, not just as an anomaly in his observational data, but as a focal point for a strange, burgeoning curiosity that had nothing to do with his mission.
“Something’s wrong,” Zylar murmured, his voice a low, almost imperceptible vibration. He didn’t look at Elara, his gaze fixed on the intricate patterns of dust motes dancing in the shafts of sunlight slanting through the high, arched windows.
