Chapter 14
Betrayal and Revelation
A trusted figure is revealed as a traitor, aiding the aliens. Zylar's true identity is compromised, forcing him and Elara into a dangerous flight to expose the conspiracy.
The air in the Lumina Academy’s grand hall crackled with an energy that had nothing to do with conjuration practice. It was a brittle, anxious hum, a collective holding of breath. Professor Thorne, usually a pillar of calm, paced the dais, his brow furrowed, his gaze sweeping over the assembled students. His mission parameters warred with the burgeoning, illogical need to protect *her*. “The energy signatures are… unstable,” he replied, choosing his words carefully. “But the primary surge has dissipated. For now.” He didn’t mention the lingering echoes, the faint but persistent signal that felt like a frayed thread leading back to his own people.
