The friends return home and try to adjust to ordinary life, but the magic of the tree lingers. Chloe's connection to the forest persists, and a mysterious visitor arrives with a message about the third wish.
The morning sun painted their town in shades of gold and amber. Familiar streets, familiar houses, familiar mailboxes with numbers they'd known since childhood. Everything looked exactly as they'd left it three days ago.
Ben let out a breath he seemed to have been holding since the forest. "My mom is going to kill me. I missed her birthday dinner. She made that lasagna with the extra cheese."
"Priorities," Maya said, but her voice was soft.
