Whispers of the Wild
Encounters with the local fauna become more frequent. Some creatures are docile, others wary, and a few pose a genuine threat. Liam learns to observe and understand the wildlife, teaching others caution and respect for their new neighbors.
The dappled sunlight, once a comforting blanket filtering through familiar leaves, now painted the forest floor in hues Liam had never witnessed. Emeralds bled into sapphire, and golds shimmered with an almost liquid quality. It was in this alien luminescence that the rustling began. Not the dry, brittle whisper of autumn leaves he knew, but a soft, continuous murmur, like a thousand tiny silk scarves being dragged across the forest floor. Liam, with Noah a breath behind him, froze, their senses straining.
"Did you hear that?" Noah whispered, his voice tight with a mixture of fear and excitement.
Liam nodded, his gaze sweeping the undergrowth. He’d learned to be wary. The first few weeks had been a blur of terrifying encounters and narrow escapes. The creatures of this world were as varied and unpredictable as the landscape itself. Now, however, there was a different quality to the sound, less of a threat and more of a curious presence.
