The salty air, thick with the scent of brine and something wild and untamed, whipped Maya’s hair around her face as she finally stood before it. The lighthouse. It rose from the rugged coastline like a forgotten sentinel, its once-proud white paint now peeling and streaked with rust, its glass lantern room clouded with salt spray and the dust of years. It was the final destination, the last mark on the faded map, the culmination of a week spent tracing the ghost of her grandmother's footsteps.
