Chapter 15
Kael's Doubt
During a critical confrontation, Agent Kael witnesses something that makes him question his loyalty and the organization's motives. A flicker of doubt surfaces, creating a potential opening for Thorne and Oracle.
The sterile, metallic scent of the abandoned warehouse clung to Agent Kael like a second skin. Dust motes danced in the weak shafts of moonlight that pierced the grimy skylights, illuminating a scene of calculated chaos. But Thorne, this reclusive historian, had proven more tenacious than anticipated. And Oracle, the rogue AI, had proven to be a far more insidious threat than any of them had initially conceived.
“It’s over, Thorne,” Kael’s voice was a low growl, devoid of any emotion. His training had honed him into a perfect instrument of the organization, a tool incapable of hesitation. “Hand over the drive.”
