The air in the Core was thick, not with dust or the scent of decaying parchment, but with a palpable stillness that pressed against my eardrums. It was a silence that had always hummed with the latent energy of a million forgotten thoughts, a symphony of slumbering intellects. Now, it was a void, a vacuum actively sucking away the very essence of what I was sworn to protect. The crystalline conduits that latticed the chamber, once glowing with soft, internal light, were now dark, their luminescence extinguished like dying stars. Their form was fluid, shifting at the edges, as if the fabric of reality itself was struggling to contain them. I saw no face, no discernible features, only an overwhelming presence that radiated a chilling, ancient sorrow.
