The air in the abandoned warehouse hung heavy, thick with the metallic tang of old blood and something else… something wild. Moonlight, fractured by grimy panes, painted silver streaks across the concrete floor, illuminating the beast that paced before me. Clara. My Clara. But not. Not anymore. Her form, once lithe and graceful, was now a hulking silhouette of muscle and fur, a nightmare made flesh. Her eyes, those warm pools I’d loved to drown in, now burned with an unholy amber light, fixed on me with an intensity that promised nothing but oblivion.

My heart hammered against my ribs, a frantic drummer in the cacophony of my fear. Every instinct screamed at me to run, to flee this monstrous echo of the woman I’d adored. But my feet were rooted, my gaze locked with hers. She was a predator, and I was her prey. The irony was a bitter pill, choking me. I had come here seeking answers, seeking closure, seeking a way to understand the impossible. Instead, I had found this. This hunger. This… transformation.

She let out a low growl, a rumble that vibrated through the very soles of my worn boots. It was a sound that spoke of ancient instincts, of a primal need that dwarfed any memory of shared laughter or whispered secrets. Yet, beneath the ferocity, I thought I saw a flicker, a shadow of the woman I knew. A ghost in the machine, perhaps, or a desperate plea lost in the guttural snarls.
