The air grew heavy, thick with the scent of damp earth and ancient stone. The shifting walls of the labyrinth had finally stilled, coalescing into a formidable, unyielding barrier. Before Elara stood a figure of colossal proportions, carved from granite that seemed to drink the very light from the air. It was a sentinel, its form vaguely humanoid, yet impossibly immense, its face a mask of impassive granite, eyes like dark, polished obsidian fixed upon her. This was no creature of fleeting magic, no wisp of wind to be coaxed or chased. This was solidity. This was permanence. Even the wind seemed to hold its breath, the usual rustling whispers of the labyrinth silenced.

“It… it feels so real,” Elara murmured, her voice barely a whisper. The stone beneath her fingers, when she reached out to touch the sentinel’s base, was rough, cool, and utterly indifferent. It was the antithesis of the shimmering, malleable landscapes she had grown accustomed to, the places where trees sang and rivers flowed with liquid moonlight.
