The Guardian reveals that the fantasy and 'real' worlds are not separate but interwoven threads in the same grand tapestry of existence.
The air in the Guardian’s chamber was thick with the scent of ancient dust and the faint, sweet perfume of night-blooming jasmine. Elara stood before the being, her heart a frantic hummingbird against her ribs, the echoes of the labyrinth’s illusions still shimmering at the edges of her vision. The Guardian, cloaked in shadows that seemed to absorb the very light, regarded her with eyes that held the depth of stars and the patience of mountains.
“You seek separation,” the Guardian’s voice resonated, a low hum that vibrated in Elara’s bones. “You believe your worlds are distinct, two separate tapestries woven with threads of differing hues, one vibrant and fantastical, the other… dull.”
Elara swallowed, her throat dry. “They feel so different,” she whispered, the words catching on a tremor. “One is alive with magic, with possibilities that stretch beyond the horizon. The other… it’s so solid, so predictable. So… real.” The word felt heavy, weighted with a longing she couldn’t quite articulate.
