The scent of brine and aged wood clung to Anya's clothes, a stark contrast to the humid, jasmine-scented air of the bustling port city. Weeks had bled into a month since Elder Kim had uttered the words that had irrevocably altered the course of her life, words that still echoed in the quiet spaces of her mind: "You are the lost heir, Anya. The woman had slipped a folded piece of parchment into Anya’s hand, her touch brief but deliberate. Beneath it, a single word: "Harbor District, Pier Seven."
