Gribble, under the king's gaze, recounts his pranks. The court listens in stunned silence as the 'conspiracy' unravels into a tale of a goblin's bored amusement.
King Theron sat upon his throne, the heavy velvet robes doing little to warm the chill that had settled deep within his bones. Before him, bound by ropes fashioned from sturdy vines, stood Gribble, the goblin. The creature fidgeted, his beady eyes darting from the imposing knights to the stern faces of the royal advisors, and finally, to the King himself. The great hall, usually alive with the murmur of courtly life, was hushed, expectant. Even the tapestries depicting Eldoria’s glorious past seemed to hold their breath.
Sir Kael stood a respectful distance behind the throne, his hand resting on the pommel of his sword. He had brought Gribble here, after a daring chase through the Whispering Woods and a clever trap sprung near the old oak. The goblin had been surprisingly easy to capture once cornered, his bravado vanishing like mist in the morning sun. Now, the real work began: unraveling the knot of fear that had tightened around the King’s heart.
“Speak, creature,” King Theron’s voice, though strained, carried the weight of his royal authority. “Tell us. Who sent you? What is this grand plot against me and my kingdom?”
