The stone beneath my bare feet was cool, almost unnervingly so, even through the phantom sensation of my dream-feet. It was the kind of stone that felt ancient, worn smooth by countless footsteps, or perhaps by something far older, something that seeped into its very essence. I stood in what felt like a vast, echoing chamber, the air thick with the scent of dust and something else… something like dried herbs and forgotten incense. Moonlight, impossibly bright and sharp, streamed through unseen apertures high above, painting elongated, skeletal shadows across the flagstones.

This was not the familiar landscape of my dreams, the swirling mists and shifting geometries. This was… solid. Real. Or at least, as real as anything in this place could be. The walls around me seemed to stretch into an infinite darkness, hinting at corridors and chambers beyond my immediate sight, but the moonlight drew my gaze to the center of the chamber. There, resting on a low, carved pedestal, was a book.

It wasn't just any book. Its cover was bound in what looked like weathered leather, dark as a moonless night, and embossed with symbols I’d only glimpsed before, fleetingly, in the periphery of my other dreams. They swirled and interconnected, hinting at a language I couldn't decipher, yet felt a strange resonance with. As I approached, drawn by an invisible thread, the air around the book seemed to hum with a low, resonant frequency, a sound that vibrated not just in my ears, but deep within my bones.
