The weight of the key settled into my palm, a familiar coolness against my skin. It was no longer just an object, a peculiar trinket I’d stumbled upon. It pulsed with a silent hum, a vibration that resonated deep within my bones, a promise and a warning all at once. The air in my room, usually so mundane, felt charged, expectant.
