The air in the town square, once a symphony of cheerful chatter and the distant, happy screams from the amusement park, had taken on a peculiar, muted quality. It was the kind of quiet that wasn't peaceful, but rather the anxious hush that falls before a storm, or perhaps, after one has already begun to rage. Lavalash, with her signature dramatic flair, had decided that the heart of their collective merriment, the very engine of their giggles and grins, the magnificent amusement park, was the next logical place to… well, to un-fun.

"She's gone too far this time," Gloria declared, her voice a little too loud in the unsettling quiet. "The amusement park! It's practically the town's collective happy-place! It’s where Uncle Barry always takes us for ice cream after we ride the rollercoaster, even if he does get a bit green around the gills."
