Lena, a step behind him, meticulously sketched the glyphs in her journal, her pencil dancing across the page, capturing every curve and line. Mateo, ever watchful, scanned their surroundings, his gaze lingering on the dense, shadowed canopy above, a subtle unease prickling at the back of his neck. Zara, meanwhile, was meticulously checking the readings on her handheld scanner, her lips pursed in a silent calculation of their remaining power reserves.

“Remarkable,” Dr. Thorne murmured, his voice a low rumble. “These markings… they’re unlike anything we’ve cataloged before. They speak of a sophisticated understanding of celestial movements, combined with an almost… protective intent.”

Lena looked up from her journal, her eyes wide. “Protective? You mean like a warning?”
