“Captain?” Seraphina’s voice, a quiet melody against the roar of the waves, drew him from his reverie. She stood a respectful distance away, her dark eyes, usually alight with curiosity, now held a flicker of concern. Her agility, the way she moved with a dancer’s grace even on the pitching deck, was a stark contrast to the brutish efficiency of most pirates.
