Around them, the remnants of Leo’s crew, those who hadn’t succumbed to Thorne’s treachery or the island's own bewildering defenses, watched with a mixture of awe and trepidation. Seraphina, her face etched with a newfound resolve, stood closer to Leo, her loyalty no longer a question of spoils but of conviction.
"You have seen," the Elder’s voice was a low murmur, like pebbles being tumbled by the tide, "the heart of our home. It is not a resource to be plundered, but a life to be cherished."
