The air in Elara’s study was thick with the scent of aged paper and the faint, comforting aroma of chamomile tea. Sunlight, softened by the sheer curtains, painted gentle patterns across the worn Persian rug. It was here, in this sanctuary of her own making, that Elara found herself facing a new kind of challenge, one that required a gentleness she had spent a lifetime cultivating. Across from her sat Caspian, his usual easy confidence replaced by a gnawing anxiety that etched lines around his eyes. Beside him, Seraphina fidgeted, her bright, usually cheerful demeanor dimmed by a palpable sense of worry.

“It’s just… everything,” Caspian finally confessed, his voice a low rumble. “The investments, they’ve gone south, Elara. Faster than anyone predicted. And the business… it’s not what it used to be. People aren’t buying like they did.” He ran a hand through his impeccably styled hair, a gesture that now seemed almost desperate.
