Adrian asserts his authority as the boss, despite Silas's sneer. He demands Silas enforce his plan, a silent battle of wills that leaves Silas outwardly compliant but inwardly defiant.
The city wept. Not with the gentle, cleansing tears of a summer shower, but with the furious, lashing deluge of a storm unleashed. Rain hammered the glass of the Bellandi Tower penthouse, each drop a tiny fist against the opulent silence. Adrian watched, mesmerized, as the urban sprawl below dissolved into a watercolor of blurred lights and slick, black asphalt. His uncle had called this place the House of Rain, a morbid jest that now felt like a premonition, a prophecy whispered by the wind and water. He was the boss, and the storm raged both within and without.
Silas Bellandi, a hulking shadow in the corner of the expansive office, cleared his throat. The sound was like gravel grinding against stone. "The shipments from the docks," he began, his voice a low rumble, laced with an impatience that Adrian refused to acknowledge. "They’re moving slower than a crippled turtle. The dockworkers are getting… antsy."
Adrian turned from the window, his movements deliberate, unhurried. He walked to his desk, the polished mahogany reflecting the soft glow of the desk lamp. He sat, the leather of the executive chair sighing beneath him. "Antsy how, Silas?" he asked, his voice dangerously calm, devoid of the tremor of unease that Silas’s words were meant to invoke.
