The rain hammered against the vast expanse of glass, each drop a miniature fist beating against the city’s bruised skin. From my vantage point, the metropolis was a sprawling, glittering organism succumbing to the deluge, its arteries choked with water, its pulse slowing. The Bellandi Tower, once a symbol of my uncle’s dominance, now felt like a lonely sentinel in this drowning world. The penthouse suite, my gilded cage, was suffocatingly silent, save for the relentless roar of the storm and the frantic thrumming of my own heart.

Silas stood in the periphery of my vision, a hulking shadow against the opulent backdrop of my office. His presence was a constant, gnawing irritament, a reminder of the old world I was trying to escape, or perhaps, to redefine. He was the embodiment of the Bellandi name’s brutal legacy, a legacy I had inherited along with its stench and its suffocating weight.

“The shipments from the docks,” Silas’s voice, a low rumble, cut through the din of the rain. It was laced with a familiar impatience, a subtle challenge that Adrian had grown accustomed to. “They’re moving slower than a crippled turtle. The dockworkers are getting… antsy.”
