The royal proclamation, etched onto parchment and nailed to the ancient oak in the village square, seemed to whisper secrets of its own. Leo, his brow furrowed with concern, traced the bold lettering with a calloused fingertip. A reward. A significant reward for the return of the King’s royal headband. But more than the glitter of coin, it was the King's desperation that tugged at Leo's honest heart. To be a “true king,” the parchment declared, one needed the symbols of his reign. And the King, it seemed, had lost his.
He remembered the hushed conversations from the previous day, the worried glances exchanged between his parents. His father, a man whose hands were as rough as the bark of the village trees but whose spirit was as gentle as the morning dew, had sighed, “A king without his regalia… it stirs unease in the land, Leo.” His mother, her eyes always reflecting a quiet strength, had simply clasped his hand and said, “Honesty is its own crown, my son. But sometimes, the world needs more than just truth to feel safe.”
Leo’s mind, as sharp and clear as a mountain spring, began to piece together the whispers and the proclamation. He felt a pull, a quiet certainty that he, Leo, the boy known for returning lost buttons and stray coins, could find what the King had lost. And so, with a deep breath and a determined glint in his eye, he set out.
