The air inside the Obsidian Hand's stronghold was thick with an oppressive silence, a stillness that felt more like a held breath than peace. Ryan’s hand, calloused and steady, rested on my shoulder, a silent anchor in the churning chaos of my own fear. Tony, a flicker of amused curiosity in his eyes, adjusted his ill-fitting spectacles, his usual flamboyant aura muted by the grim purpose that had brought us to this place. We were a trinity of desperation, storming the heart of a darkness that had hunted me since the night the world fractured.

The fortress loomed around us, a monument to rigid order and unforgiving dogma. Walls of polished obsidian, imbued with ancient wards, pulsed with a faint, malevolent light. Every shadow seemed to writhe with unseen sentinels, every gust of wind a whispered threat. We moved through the labyrinthine corridors, a ghost of a raid, relying on Tony’s uncanny knack for finding the unseen paths and Ryan’s knowledge of ward-breaking.

"They think they've contained it," Ryan murmured, his voice a low growl as he deactivated a shimmering barrier with a series of intricate gestures. "They think they can erase what they don't understand."
