The air grew thin, not from the biting cold, but from a suffocating quiet. The crimson moon, once a blazing beacon, now seemed to hold its breath, its fiery glow softening, its edges blurring like a watercolor painting left out in the rain. It was waning. The very thought sent a shiver, colder than any blizzard, down my spine. This was it. It surged and sputtered, refusing to be harnessed.
