The first rays of sunlight touch the land in ages. Snow begins to melt, revealing dormant life. Amy, weary but triumphant, watches as her world slowly awakens from its frozen slumber.

The air, so long a biting, brittle thing, softened. It was a change so subtle, so profound, I almost didn't believe it at first. I stood on the porch of my little cabin, the same porch where I’d watched the crimson moon blaze for what felt like an eternity, and I felt it. A gentle breath, carrying the faintest scent of damp earth and something like pine needles warming in the sun. It was a scent I hadn't realized I’d forgotten until it was there, filling my lungs and stirring a deep, sleepy ache in my bones.

Above, the crimson moon, our constant, fiery companion, was no longer a dominant force. It was a pale ghost, its edges blurred, its once fierce glow a mere whisper against the growing brilliance in the east. The sky, a perpetual canvas of deep indigo and swirling white, was bleeding into soft hues of rose and gold. I squinted, my eyes, accustomed to the stark contrast of snow and crimson light, finding it hard to adjust to this new, gentle palette.

And then, I saw it. A single, impossibly bright ray of sunlight, like a golden arrow, pierced through the lingering clouds. It struck the highest peak of the mountain that loomed over my home, and for a breathtaking moment, the snow there blazed with an unearthly fire. It wasn’t the sharp, dangerous glow of the crimson moon, but a warm, inviting luminescence. It was the light of a new day.
