As night falls, Amy reads a passage that sings a gentle lullaby of protection and peace over the land. The Grimoire itself seems to hum, a comforting presence in the quiet darkness.
The last slivers of sunlight bled into the horizon, painting the sky in hues of bruised plum and fading rose. A hush fell over the cottage, a soft blanket woven from the day’s last breath. I sat by the hearth, the Grimoire open on my lap, its pages warmed by the dying embers. The air, usually alive with Flicker’s flitting movements and the rustle of leaves outside, was still, holding its breath in anticipation. Even the Whispering Wind, usually a constant companion, seemed to have paused its gentle sighing, as if listening.
My fingers traced the elegant script on the page before me, a passage I’d found tucked away, almost as if it had been waiting for this precise moment. It wasn't a spell of grand pronouncements or potent transformations, but something far softer, far more profound: a lullaby. A lullaby sung not by voice, but by the very essence of the Grimoire itself.
“Listen, Flicker,” I murmured, my voice a low hum in the quiet room.
