Jhon yanked the car door open with a frustrated huff, the metal groaning in protest like an old man with a bad knee. He twisted the key in the ignition, a hopeful little prayer escaping his lips, but the engine responded with a pathetic, wheezing cough. Nothing. Absolutely, positively, frustratingly nothing. Jhon slumped back against the worn leather seat, the familiar scent of stale air freshener and disappointment filling his nostrils. Another morning, another automotive betrayal. His life, it seemed, was a finely tuned orchestra of minor inconveniences.

With a sigh that could deflate a small bouncy castle, Jhon slammed the car door shut and trudged towards the bus stop, the weight of his broken-down chariot a heavy burden on his shoulders. He hated the bus. It smelled like damp socks and regret, and the seats were perpetually sticky. But today, the bus was his only chariot, his only hope of reaching the hallowed halls of his equally mundane job.

As the lumbering metal beast chugged its way down the street, Jhon found himself staring out the window, watching the world blur by in shades of grey and beige. He needed a change. A big, dramatic, life-altering change. Perhaps a sudden career in competitive dog grooming. Or maybe he'd become a professional cloud watcher. The possibilities, while improbable, felt more exciting than his current trajectory.
