Jhon's car still doesn't work, but he doesn't care. He knows his life has changed, and he looks forward to more adventures with Bob.
Jhon stood on his driveway, the morning sun doing little to warm the chill that had settled in his bones. His car, a once-reliable metal beast, sat stubbornly silent, its engine refusing to even cough. He’d twisted the key with a hopeful prayer, then a frustrated groan, and finally, with a sigh that felt as heavy as a week’s worth of Mondays, he’d admitted defeat. The bus it was, then. The bus, the symbol of his mundane, predictable existence. The very thing he was desperately trying to escape.
He trudged to the bus stop, the familiar route feeling longer, more arduous than usual. Every creak of his worn sneakers seemed to echo the discontent churning within him. He’d imagined grand adventures, daring escapes, a life painted in vibrant colours, not the dull grey of his current reality. And here he was, reduced to public transport, a prisoner of circumstance.
The bus rumbled into view, a hulking, rectangular behemoth, its windows reflecting the indifferent sky. He stepped aboard, the air thick with the scent of stale coffee and a hundred forgotten conversations. He paid his fare, his eyes scanning the rows of faces, a sea of sameness. Then, his breath hitched.
