The air in the Whispering Woods grew thicker, dappled sunlight struggling to pierce the dense canopy of ancient trees. Lily’s hand, warm and solid in Anna’s, tightened its grip. Every rustle of leaves, every distant hoot, seemed to echo the strange, unsettling silence that always surrounded Lily in the village. But it was its eyes that held Lily captive—two pools of liquid amber, ancient and knowing, that seemed to gaze not just at them, but through them, into the very core of their beings. A shiver, not of fear but of awe, traced its way down Lily’s spine. This was no ordinary creature; this was a guardian.
