“Right, Arke, operation ‘Humanize the Majestic Feline’ is a go!” I chirped, bouncing on the balls of my feet. The sheer, unadulterated joy of impending chaos was practically vibrating through my very soul. Arke, bless his prim and proper Lyran heart, was currently draped in what looked suspiciously like a velvet toga. It was regal, I’ll grant him that, but it screamed ‘ancient philosopher who’s lost his way to the toga party.’ It had to go.

Arke blinked his impossibly golden eyes, his magnificent mane, a cascade of burnished copper, rippling slightly as he tilted his head. “Humanize?” he repeated, his voice a low rumble that always made my teeth tingle. “Sandy, my attire is perfectly adequate for observation. It conveys an air of… gravitas.”
