Antoinette clutched the golden knitting needle, its smooth, cool surface a stark contrast to the frantic thumping of her heart. It felt impossibly heavy, imbued with a power that vibrated through her very bones. Around her, the opulent, yet gaudy, office of Madame Evangeline shimmered and wavered, as if the very fabric of reality was being tugged at by an unseen hand. The imposter Sacry, the unnervingly perfect, unnervingly wrong Sacry, was dissolving before her eyes, a shimmering mirage of manufactured talent. It wasn't a violent disintegration, more of a gentle sigh, a fading echo of a performance that had gone on for far too long.

A Sacry polished to an impossible sheen, devoid of the charming, human flaws that made her best friend so wonderfully, infuriatingly Sacry.

The imposter offered a faint, almost apologetic smile, her features blurring like watercolors left out in the rain. “It was… a very interesting role,” she whispered, her voice losing its practiced cadence, becoming thin and reedy. Then, with a final, almost imperceptible wobble, she was gone, leaving behind only the faint scent of ozone and expensive hairspray.
