Whispers of the Forest
Strange sounds and fleeting movements surround Elias. He encounters ethereal Forest Spirits, who sense his noble quest and offer cryptic advice, guiding him deeper into the woods.
The air in the Whispering Woods was thick with the scent of damp earth and ancient pine, a perfume Elias had always found comforting. But today, it carried an undercurrent of unease, a subtle hum of unseen life that pricked at his senses. Every rustle of leaves, every snapped twig, seemed to hold a hidden meaning, a whispered warning or a beckoning invitation. He clutched the worn leather strap of his satchel, his heart a steady drumbeat against his ribs, a rhythm of determination that warred with a flutter of apprehension. He knew, with a certainty that settled deep in his bones, that he was no longer simply a lumberjack venturing into familiar territory; he was a seeker, treading paths trod by legend.
The trees here were different, taller, their branches laced together like the gnarled fingers of giants, casting dappled shadows that danced and shifted with an almost deliberate grace. Sunlight, when it managed to pierce the canopy, fell in golden shafts that illuminated motes of dust, making them appear as tiny, dancing sprites. Elias paused, listening. A sound, like the tinkling of distant bells, drifted through the trees, impossibly delicate yet clear. It was unlike any birdsong he had ever heard. He strained his ears, his gaze sweeping the dense undergrowth.
