Elias sat by his mother’s bedside, his calloused hand gently stroking her fevered brow. The Sunstone, nestled in a simple wooden bowl on the table, pulsed with a soft, amber glow, its warmth radiating outwards like a benevolent heartbeat. It wasn't a blinding light, but a gentle luminescence, as if the very essence of sunshine had been captured and distilled into this single, precious gem.

His mother stirred, a faint sigh escaping her lips. Her eyelids, which had been swollen and heavy for days, fluttered open, revealing irises that were no longer clouded with sickness but held a flicker of recognition. “Elias?” she whispered, her voice raspy but undeniably present.

A wave of relief so profound it made his knees weak washed over Elias. He leaned closer, his heart swelling. “I’m here, Mama. I’m right here.”
