The woman under the tree stood, her silver hair catching the dawn light like threads of spun glass. She did not move toward them, but her presence filled the space between breaths, warm and patient.
Elias felt Anya's hand tighten around his. Lena's sphere pulsed once, a steady beat, then dimmed to a soft glow.
"You know who we are," Elias said.
