The first gatekeeper stood in the garden's silver light, his young face unlined by the centuries Elias remembered. He wore simple clothes—linen pants, a loose shirt—but his eyes held the weight of a thousand broken doors. The seed-tree rustled, dropping a single silver fruit at Lyra's feet.
"You've done something I never could," he said, his voice soft but carrying. "I sealed the Maker away. You healed her."
Anya stepped forward, her hand finding Lena's. "You're the one who built the doors?"
