The darkness poured through the rift like water through a cracked dam. It didn't rush. It seeped, deliberate and patient, staining the golden light of the cavern a bruised purple. The seed pulsed once, twice, then dimmed as if holding its breath.
Elias stepped forward, his hand still locked with Anya's and Lena's. He could feel the master now, not just as a cold presence but as a weight in his chest. It was heavy. It was ancient. And it was terrified.
"Don't let go," he said, though the words felt useless. The darkness was already curling around their ankles, whispering promises of silence.
