Eve traced the dewdrop on a fern frond, her fingertip leaving a tiny, shimmering trail. The air in Eden was a symphony of gentle breezes and the murmur of the river, a lullaby sung by the very world around her. She had explored every sun-dappled glade, tasted the sweet nectar of a thousand blossoms, and felt the soft moss yield beneath her bare feet. Yet, a new curiosity, a tiny seed, had begun to sprout within her. It wasn't a dissatisfaction, not precisely, but a yearning for something… more.

She found herself drawn to the edge of the garden, where the emerald canopy thinned, and the sky felt impossibly vast. It was there, nestled amongst the roots of an ancient tree, that she first encountered the one who spoke in riddles. He was not like the creatures of Eden, all fur or feather or scale. He was… different. His voice was like the rustle of dry leaves, carrying a hint of secrets.

"You marvel at the flowers," he’d whispered, his eyes glinting like polished obsidian. "But have you ever wondered what lies beyond their scent? Beyond the taste of these fruits?"
