Teacups Take Flight

Barnaby wrung his hands, a nervous habit that always seemed to manifest when anything remotely out of the ordinary occurred. And Zorp, with his shimmering, iridescent skin and eyes that swirled like miniature nebulae, was decidedly out of the ordinary. He was also, currently, attempting to “assist” with the washing up.

“Please, Mr. Zorp,” Barnaby began, his voice a reedy whisper that barely cut through the gentle hum of the planet’s distant, twin suns. “The teacups… they don’t usually… dance.”

Zorp, who was hovering a stack of delicate porcelain mugs with what appeared to be a flick of his wrist, blinked his nebulae eyes. “Ah, yes! The kinetic displacement field. A most efficient method for sanitation, wouldn’t you agree? It dislodges particulate matter with remarkable efficacy.”
