The sky had turned a bruised, angry purple. What had begun as a playful swell had, with unnerving speed, transformed into a monstrous, heaving beast of a sea. The Fullereneium, so recently the picture of serene elegance, now plunged and bucked like a wild thing. Inside, the hum of electric motors, usually a gentle thrum beneath the soles of one's feet, seemed to take on a more urgent, almost strained, quality.

Captain Eva Rostova stood on the bridge, her knuckles white where she gripped the railing. The panoramic windows, designed to offer breathtaking views of the ocean, now presented a terrifying spectacle of churning grey water and streaks of lashing rain. Each shudder of the ship vibrated through her bones, a physical manifestation of the storm's raw power. Beside her, the ship’s AI, a calm, disembodied voice named ‘Aura,’ provided a stream of data, each word a counterpoint to the chaos outside.

“Wave height is now exceeding twenty meters, Captain,” Aura reported, its tone even, almost unnervingly so. “Wind speeds are gusting to eighty knots. We are experiencing significant lateral and vertical accelerations.”
