Silas had been adamant. “You can’t stay here, Aris. They’ll find you. They’ll tear this place apart.” Silas, his former colleague, now an unlikely guardian, his gruff practicality a much-needed anchor in Aris’s increasingly turbulent existence.

“Where do I go, Silas?” Aris had asked, his voice barely a whisper, lost in the sudden vastness of his predicament.
