THE LEGACY ENDURES
Twenty years had passed since the day the circle of keepers was formed, and the land around Xindewula Mountain had been transformed. Villages that had once been isolated were now connected by paths and bridges built with care for the land. Fields and forests thrived together, each given space to grow and flourish. Children from every settlement gathered each year in Ntila’s Grove to learn from the keepers, to share stories, and to strengthen the bonds that held their communities together.
The original Ntila’s namesake was now a young man, serving as one of the council’s most respected keepers. He had married a young woman from Babangu Village, and together they had a daughter whom they named Thandiwe – the same name as Rixile’s daughter, creating another link between their families and villages.
Rixile was now an elder himself, his hair grey but his eyes still bright with the same fire that had driven him on his first journey. He spent his days teaching the young keepers, telling stories of the mountain’s history, and walking through Ntila’s Grove with his grandchildren, showing them the plants and animals that called it home.
