The salty tang of the sea, once a comfort, now felt like a perpetual, gnawing unease. It clung to the air, thick and heavy, even miles inland. The unnatural storms that had begun to plague their coastal village, the twisted, phosphorescent glow of the fish that washed ashore, the chilling, mournful cry that echoed from the depths at dusk – these were the undeniable signs. The Seaq was here, and their powers, the very gifts they had so eagerly embraced, felt increasingly inadequate.

Liam slammed his fist against the rough-hewn timber of his training hut. The wood splintered, a small flare of heat licking at his knuckles before he instinctively pulled back. “It’s useless!” he roared, the frustration a hot coal in his chest. “We hit it, we blast it, we freeze it, we bury it, and it just… keeps coming back. Like the tide.”

Rhett, his earth element manifesting as a dull ache in his bones, knelt and scooped up a handful of the packed dirt floor. He let it sift through his fingers, his brow furrowed. “Master Wu said it wasn’t a creature to be destroyed. But what else could it be? It’s hurting us.”
