The air in the abandoned warehouse crackled with a tension so thick it felt like static electricity prickling my skin. Dust motes danced in the slivers of moonlight that pierced the grimy windows, illuminating the determined faces of Rain, Kelly, Jessica, Jace, and Star. We were a mismatched collection of unlikely heroes, bound together by a threat that had erupted from the ordinary into the terrifyingly supernatural. My heart still pounded a frantic rhythm against my ribs, a residual echo of the chaos in the cafeteria, but a new, steadier beat was beginning to emerge – one of resolve.

Rain, his blue eyes like chips of glacial ice in the dim light, stood at the center of our makeshift war room. His usual enigmatic aura was tinged with a grim urgency. Kelly, ever the picture of loyalty, stepped closer to my side, her hand finding mine. Her grip was firm, a silent promise of solidarity. "We won't let him, Rain," she said, her voice unwavering. "Whatever this is, whatever Sarah is, we're in this together."
