The air in the throne room, once filled with the booming laughter of my father, King David, now felt heavy, thick with the silence of grief. It was a silence that pressed in on all sides, a tangible reminder of the void he’d left behind. My sisters, Maya, Lily, Rayray, Daisy, and Jaylene, were gathered near the grand fireplace, their usual boisterous energy dimmed, replaced by a quiet resolve that was, in its own way, more powerful than any shout.

I watched them from my father’s throne, a seat that felt far too large and imposing for me, Prince Jimmy. The whispers of the court, the worried glances of the advisors, they all seemed to magnify my own inadequacy. My father, the fearless king, was gone. And I, Jimmy the ‘pumpkin’ prince, was supposed to lead.
