Jimmy Steps into the Light
With David gone, the responsibility falls to young Prince Jimmy. Though unprepared, he must now lead his grieving family and a war-weary kingdom.
The silence in the throne room was a heavy, suffocating blanket. It wasn't the peaceful quiet of a kingdom at rest, but the hollow echo of absence, a gaping void where King David’s booming laugh and commanding presence used to be. I stood there, a small figure in the vastness of it all, the weight of that silence pressing down on my chest like a boulder. My father. Gone. And with him, the booming voice that had always promised safety, always assured us we were strong. Now, it was just… gone.
Mama, Queen Rose, her face etched with a grief so profound it seemed to carve new lines into her very soul, stood beside me. Her hand, usually so warm and comforting, trembled slightly as she rested it on my shoulder. I could feel the tremor travel through me, a mirror of the fear that was starting to bloom, cold and sharp, in my own stomach. Around us, the court, usually a bustling hive of activity, was a tableau of stunned sorrow. The knights, their armor dulled by dust and the grim reality of war, looked lost. The advisors, their faces pale and drawn, whispered amongst themselves, their words lost in the oppressive quiet.
“Jimmy,” Mama’s voice was a fragile thread, barely audible. “We have to be strong. For your father. For our kingdom.”
