The Queen's Bargain

Lillypad blinked, her eyes adjusting to a soft, pearlescent light that seemed to emanate from everywhere and nowhere at once. The air hummed with a gentle melody, like wind chimes made of pure moonlight. She wasn’t in her bed anymore, nor was she in her room. Its eyes were like twin galaxies, deep and wise, holding an ancient twinkle. From its delicate paws to the tip of its impossibly long, star-dusted tail, the creature radiated a quiet, regal power. This had to be Cathy, the star cat queen of her dreams.

Lillypad felt a wave of awe wash over her, a feeling so profound it made her want to curl up right there, even though she was floating. She remembered the news reports, the strange ritual, and the hope that had bloomed in her heart. She had done it. She had truly done it.
