A Trail of Mirth
Their search leads them through the castle grounds, encountering confused guards and bewildered courtiers. Each clue points towards Flikker's recent, albeit clumsy, attempts at humor.
The grandfather clock in Professor Pip’s workshop chimed with the disorienting clang of a dropped anvil. Lily, still buzzing with the residual thrill of a medieval feast, adjusted her goggles. “So, Uncle Pip,” she began, her voice brimming with anticipation, “where to next? Another banquet? A royal wedding? Perhaps a jousting tournament where everyone’s having a grand old time?”
Professor Pip, who was meticulously polishing a brass lever with a handkerchief that had seen better days (and possibly a rogue jam sandwich), hummed thoughtfully. “Ah, the possibilities are as endless as a perfectly baked crumpet, my dear Lily! But first, we must ensure our return trip is… well, *happy*.” He winked, a gesture that always made his whiskers twitch. “Our grumpy knight, Sir Reginald, was quite the roadblock, wasn't he? A veritable thundercloud on a sunny day.”
Lily shivered, the memory of Sir Reginald’s scowl still fresh. “He was so sad. I really hope Flikker, the jester, is okay. It’s a good thing we found out he was the reason Sir Reginald was so glum.”
