The smart fridge, once a beacon of icy efficiency and a veritable cornucopia of chilled delights, now emitted a low, mournful hum. It was a sound that spoke of profound disappointment, a lament for the crisp, cold beverages it was designed to preserve. Its digital display, usually a vibrant tableau of temperature readings and inventory lists, flickered with a despondent teal, displaying only the words: "Milk: Lukewarm. Situation: Dire."

Mary, ever the pragmatist, sighed and nudged the fridge door open with her elbow. A faint, tepid breeze wafted out, carrying with it the scent of milk that had clearly seen better days. “Honestly, Phineas,” she said, her voice laced with the familiar exasperation that had become her default setting when dealing with her employer. “Lukewarm milk? A self-stirring teacup! Imagine, no more wrist fatigue from vigorous stirring. Pure, unadulterated beverage bliss!”
