Chapter 17
Brenda's Biscuit Stash
Brenda, ever prepared, pulls out her emergency biscuit stash. While the kitchen is a mess and the fridge is compromised, at least there are snacks. She offers Phineas a slightly crumbly comfort.
Brenda surveyed the culinary battlefield with a sigh that could curdle milk, which, given Joseph’s current state, was a distinct possibility. The remnants of Toastie’s brief but brutal reign of terror lay scattered across the once-pristine countertops. The faint, acrid scent of burnt toast still hung in the air, a testament to their desperate, last-ditch effort.
Phineas blinked, his bushy eyebrows practically meeting his hairline. “Yes, Brenda, yes. A most… unexpected outcome. Though, I must confess, I’m rather pleased Toastie found the charred remains of his own ambition so thoroughly unappetizing. It’s a rather profound commentary on the nature of self-loathing, wouldn't you say?”
