Confronting Silas
Elara finds herself face-to-face with Silas Thorne. His cunning and malice are palpable. She must use her newfound resilience and perhaps her unique ability to navigate this perilous encounter.
The silk of the robe felt alien against my skin, a stark contrast to the rough denim I usually favored. It whispered secrets of opulence, of a life I’d stumbled into, a life that was not mine. I blinked, trying to dismiss the fleeting vision of a faint, shimmering blue around the bird, a color that pulsed with a desperate longing. It was just my imagination, I told myself, a trick of the light, a product of too much stress.
A soft knock echoed through the vast space. My heart leaped into my throat. Dante hadn’t said he’d be back. Isolde? Or… someone else? My hand instinctively tightened around the wooden bird. I crept towards the door, peering through the peephole.
